That's not a Rembrandt, that's a Kingmaker - Peter Kingmaker Sells Out Art Show in Austin

Austin, Texas - American painter Peter Kingmaker has been making quite a name for himself in the Lone Star State.

Amid the buzz of  his sold-out show in a ritzy downtown Austin gallery (1st and Congress), Kingmaker's distinctive artwork has captured the imagination of art collectors who are thinking big.

Just how big?

With a style all his own, Kingmaker's exquisite oils on canvas flaunt brushstrokes, bold colors, and personalities that come to life in ways that harken back to arguably the greatest portrait artist of all time, Rembrandt.

The inheritor of American giants such as Remington, Rockwell and Sargent,  Kingmaker stands uniquely alone in Texas (and perhaps America at large) with his unique talents in the portraiture genre.

This rare talent carries a big price tag, however, as collectors snapped up portraits ranging from the hundreds, to the thousands a piece.

And while this may seem extravagant for a contemporary local artist, consider the price of an original Sargent or even Rembrandt and we could be witnessing the birth of an artistic legacy that is set to boom in value.

But what may be the most impressive part of his solo show was his display of works in progress; a daring move for any artist.

Perhaps most notable was his "Van Gogh", a brooding nod to one of art's greats capturing his glowing locks and almost neon beard...

Vincent would have been proud of this one.
